Zoo Bar Recap–Barbara Hendricks and Sammie Marie Ware?! Heaven?!

Barbara Hendricks

  • It was fun to visit the old stomping grounds at the Zoo Bar.  Love Evil Funk Quartet opened the night.  It was a pleasure and an honor to witness “The Steve” dance being done during our set in several instances.  I haven’t seen that dance in years.
  • Also, at the Zoo Bar, we had a couple of awesome guests hop up with us:  someone (thank you, sir) gave me a heads up that the world famous Barbara Hendricks was in the audience.  I spoke with her before we began and she jumped up on stage with us and rocked a killer Latin-jazz-classical version of “Summertime.”  Then, later in the set, the amazingly talented vocalist/actress Samantha Marie Ware  jumped up on stage and rocked a bluesy/swanky version of Maroon 5’s “Sugar.”  Sammie was on the most recent season of “Glee” and continues to work on Broadway.

  • I’m wrapping up work on UNL a cappella group Pitch Please’s record.  It sounds great.  They are a fun group to be around and I think they’ve had a great time with their first studio experience.  Cheers!
  • I have some AWESOME projects coming up this summer that I’m thrilled about–jazz, rock, hip-hop, soul, country, and pop records that are all going to be a blast to piece together.  I’m blessed.
