Last Week’s Recap, Zoo Bar Saturday night!!

LK Slowdown

Wow.  Busy.

Gig world:

  • Last week, I had 4 gigs in three days.  I had a great time playing guitar/singing as a guest with Omaha’s R&B group Transition for a private gig on a lake Wednesday night.
  • Friday, I sang with D*FUNK for an awesome wedding at the Lauritzen Gardens in Omaha.  This place is truly stunning.
  • I went straight from there to the Harney Street Tavern for a wild LK gig from midnight-2am.  CJ Mills did a fantastic job opening and the band (Dan Beard, Danny Firestone, Kevin Kelley) were absolutely slaying.  It was a blast, packed, and the crowd was getting after it.
  • Saturday night, we did an LK gig opening for Satchel Grande at The Slowdown in Omaha for their CD Release show.  They are a one of a kind show–tight, continuous grooves all night.  It is impossible not to join in.  We played awesome as well, and they were very cool to give us that opportunity.

This week:

  • I’m chilling out a little with gigs, thank God, but Saturday night at the legendary Zoo Bar should be a good one.  Love Evil Funk Quartet–a band I adored in my high school days and early “adult” years, will be rocking a reunion show to open the night.  In case you are wondering what they’re like, here’s an article with more one-liners than a pile of booty.  They’ll be on ’round 9pm, and we’ll close it out with a killer LK set.

Studio Life:

  • I’m continuing production work on college a cappella group Pitch Please (UNL).  Here’s a quick mix of “Elastic Heart” featuring Colbi Reetz on lead vocal.  Pretty dope:
